A 22 year old mother, from Sahranpur, in Uttar Pradesh, northern India, gave birth to this baby who only lived for 10 minutes because he/she had a rare congenital condition called Sirenomelia also known as ‘Mermaid syndrome’. The condition is a form of congenital deformity which causes what looks like a single limb, thereby keeping the legs fused together, it also makes it almost impossible to determine the of the child after delivery. Doctors in Indian were astonished as they said they have seen congenital disorders amongst children but this particularly one was an extremely rare case.
